In those difficult and challenging times, face by literally the world due to COVID-19, leading to a general lockdown and confinement, it can get quickly tedious. One will not know how to spend those offered free times. With school closures, a lot of working places lockdown, people are suddenly finding themselves with a lot of free time at home, and they faced with the questions: What to do? How to entertain the children if you have some? How to keep busy? As the usual entertainment such as the TV, online social media, etc. can get quickly monotonous.  

 Here we share 9 ways to keep busy during the confinement, the lockdown.  


 Now is the time to use or fully make use of those board games sitting in your cupboards. Boards games such as monopoly, chess, the game of life, scrabble and many more are great for kids and are great ways to spend time together; they will not only entertain you but also widen your knowledge.  Puzzles games are great too, they are a lot of them online, but it will be useful to play them physically. They are many types suitable for children or adults.  


Nowadays, books are not the obvious choice for a lot of people. But books are a great way to spend time. Try to make it a habit. If you are not used to reading books, start reading only a few minutes, and then increase the time gradually. It is perfect for reading stories at bedtime, but they can beneficiate as well in reading daytime by themselves, especially since they do not have the opportunity anymore. Just make sure to read books you are passionate about. Otherwise, you will be put off.  


 There is no better time to work on your garden. It is spring; everything is coming back to life. Remove leaves and other debris from flower beds and border, cut old dead grows on plants, top up the soils if needed, then sow your seeds or bulbs, transplanting the plants you started growing indoors.  It is a good time as well to give a cleanout to your greenhouse, tidy up, and clear out.   Let’s not forget the fences, to complete, give them a good revamp by painting them.  

 4 – DO SOME DIY  

Another great way to spend, to keep busy are DIY. Show your creativity. They are many ideas out there you can use for adults and children. You can find interesting inexpensive crafts.   


Cooking is one favourite for a lot of people, especially baking. You can improve your skills if you are an amateur or show off your skills if you are already an excellent cook. If you have children, this is a great way to keep them busy, get them to involve. There are out there a lot of simple and delicious recipes, a book or a click away.  



Exercises would be great to include in your daily routine. You must add them since confinement implies not going out, restraint movement, therefore exercising will help you to remain healthy. You can perform most workouts at home. YouTube, DVDs could be of great help.  



Now is the right time to get on with all those redecoration ideas you’ve been putting off. Now, you have the time to declutter your house, make all these little changes you’ve meant to do but never have the time, such as removing the carpet, plastering, tiling, painting, etc.  



 With all this time in your hands, you can as well learn a new skill. This could be anything, a new language, learn how to cook, gain some self-development skills, how to properly take care of your garden, communication skills, how to dance, how to sew, etc. The good thing is there are a lot of accessible resources out there.  



Now is the time to create some sources of passive income, especially when many have lost their job, or will not get the whole of their wages.
